Character Animator (Blender) 60–80% Zürich, 14.04.2026
We are „das alte Lager“, a VFX studio based in Zurich. Our focus is on high-quality visual effects for film
and television. During the second half of the year, we will be working on several projects centered entirely
around characters. That’s why we are looking for someone to support our small team in the field of Character
Animation from June 1st until the end of the year.
Your work will bridge two worlds: On one hand, we have realistic-looking characters that require expressive,
„toony“ movement. On the other hand, we need support animating photorealistic animals, where credible,
natural mechanics and anatomy are key. You should feel confident delivering everything from exaggerated
timing to anatomical precision.
What you bring to the table
• Blender: It is your primary tool.
• Stylistic Versatility: You have done both before - cartoony timing and anatomically correct animal
animation.
• On-site Presence: You are motivated to work at our office in Zurich Altstetten. We value direct
exchange and short communication paths.
• Experience: You have a track record of completing character animation projects and understand
what professional workflows require.
• All-rounder Skills: If you are also familiar with other parts of the character pipeline (modeling,
rigging, weight painting, or even the Blender Muscle System), that is a huge plus.
• Slap Comps: : Being able to quickly throw your renderings together in a slap comp to check timing
and impact would be a massive help.
The Essentials
• Workload: 60–80% (to be discussed)
• Duration: June 1st, 2026 (or by arrangement) through December 31st, 2026.
• Compensation: We offer fair, market-rate pay—we are looking for a team member to work with us
at eye level.
